Juan Dell, famed sculptress of American culture,
was born in West Texas on the Llano Estacado - Staked Plains. In 1968, she became fascinated by the history of her environment and people and began depicting this history in sculpture. This fascination, combined with a rare talent, has produced outstanding works and honors.
Juan Dell specialized in sculpture in bronze, portraits, monumental statues and smaller figurative pieces. She has been commissioned to do fountains, waterfalls and garden formations. Her work is in hundreds of private collections, including those of Burt Reynolds, former New Mexico Governor Jerry Apodaca and Texas Governor John Connelly, Snuff Garrett, Greer Garson, Bunker Hunt, Winthrop Rockefeller, Jr. and television sportscaster Chris Schenkel.
Her work has been a part of numerous exhibitions such as the American Culture in Germany, Sea World Opening of Texas, "16 East" Gallery, Governor's Gallery, Museum of Albuquerque, Gallery Hawaii Grand Opening, Festival of the Arts, Texas Art Gallery Preview and Biltmore Celebrity Show. Museum collections include the Haley Library and Museum of the Southwest, Midland, Texas; Llano Estacado, Panhandle, Texas; Panhandle Plains Museum, Canyon, Texas; Ranching Heritage Museum, Lubbock, Texas; Texas Ranger Museum, Waco, Texas and the Trail of Tears Museum, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
A consistent medal-winner, Juan Dell is the subject of the book The First Lady of Western Bronze by Walt Wiggins and a member of the Texas Association of Professional Artists and the National Western Artist Association. Her work is represented in galleries in Texas, Arizona, California, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming.
